We all know that working out is good for our bodies. When you’ve come home from a long day of work or school it can be difficult to see the merit in these arguments. The last thing we want to do is to drag ourselves off the couch away from our television and force ourselves to work out. If can certainly be hard to convince yourself that working out is the right thing to do. However, do you know about the science behind why working out is good for you? We’ve heard time and again that we should be forcing ourselves to move and exercise no matter how tired we are. It can be hard to motivate ourselves when we don’t know the benefits behind working out so here are 5 less known facts about exercise that will hopefully motivate you to put on your sneakers and get moving next time you’re feeling lazy!
1) You’ll Feel Happy
Exercise is scientifically proven to release a hormone in the body called endorphins. Endorphins are hormones that make you feel happy! Anytime you find yourself feeling down about something you should workout to boost your mood. While it may take some grudging to actually get you out of bed, once you begin working out you’ll automatically feel better!
2) You’ll become more motivated
The initial step of forcing yourself to get up and work out is probably the most difficult part of exercise but once you’ve overcome it you’re going to feel so motivated. The motivation won’t just be limited to exercise, once you’ve accomplished the task of working out you’ll feel motivated to complete other things that you need to do.
3) You’ll gain energy
Contrary to popular belief, working out won’t tire you out. Instead, you’ll feel a burst of energy when you’re finished. You can channel this energy into completing homework, going out with friends, cooking a new dish, or in any other way you want. If you’re feeling like there’s no cure to your laziness, give working out a chance and see for yourself the difference it will make.
4) You’ll look better
We’re not talking about your fitness or muscle definition when we say you’ll look better. When you work out your body circulates blood faster than it normally would. This means your skin will look brighter and more youthful. Your face will automatically glow when you’re finished and you’re bound to see other positive effects in your appearance as well.
5) You’ll feel accomplished
Many times we end the day and question whether or not we’ve accomplished something. When you work out, you’ve managed to accomplish at least one positive thing for yourself. Don’t worry if you don’t exercise for a long period of time. Even taking out 10 minutes of your day is going to make a huge impact on your mood and your body. There’s no such thing as a bad workout or a too short workout so don’t worry! Just get moving and you’ll thank yourself for it later!
